Wednesday, July 30, 6:00-8:30 pm
In-person
$10 General Admission, $5 Maltz Museum Members
Part workshop, part open mic, this event celebrates the belief that everyone has a story to share. Participants place themselves at the heart of their life journeys, using narrative to foster understanding and connection across diverse perspectives. Everyone will tell a true story inspired by the evening’s prompt about remembrance, resilience, hope, and memory, or just come to enjoy the evening!
Co-hosted by Wandering Aesthetics and the Maltz Museum, this event is open to the community. Language and content of stories should be no stronger than PG-13. Stories don’t have to be long—they can be as short as 30 seconds—and can range from heart-wrenching to hysterical (and everywhere in-between)! No experience necessary. Registration required. The maximum number of storytellers is 15, and the audience is 70.
6:00–6:45 PM: Workshop led by Wandering Aesthetics’ Education Director Kyle Jozsa and Artistic Director Benjamin Rexroad, using the Storyteller’s Way model to guide story crafting.
After 6:45 PM: Open mic begins! Participants can share their own stories or enjoy listening to others. A special guest storyteller will also take the stage.
Wandering Aesthetics is a storytelling-centered theatre company dedicated to exploring and redefining the American identity. Founded in 2013 by Kyle Jozsa and Benjamin Rexroad, the company was born from a love of storytelling and a deep belief in the power of community. Through devised performances, research-driven explorations, and the deconstruction of classic works, Wandering Aesthetics forges a new mythology for generations seeking connection. Their work cultivates personal contact, bringing diverse voices together to weave a unified narrative of what it means to be American in the present moment.
